Winter Concerts

This year, Stevenson School will be hosting 1 afternoon concert double-feature and 2 evening concerts to celebrate the holiday season:

Open House Conferences

Thank you to all the families who were able to come in to celebrate your child's learning at our Conferences last week. If you were not able to make it in to the school, please contact your child's teacher to arrange a time to come in for a visit, or to discuss any questions you may have. Thank you!

Principal of Music

This year, our Principal, Jane Couch, was nominated for, and awarded as the Western Canadian recipient of the Principals of Music Award. This award is sponsored by the Coalition for Music Education in Canada and is given to an administrator who supports and embraces the importance of music in education. Along with her recognition, our school will be given a cash award towards our music program here at Stevenson. Congratulations Jane!

Thank you Stevenson Families

With your support in the Adopt-A-School Program through Chapters/Indigo, our school will receive $2361.17 in books for our Library. Also, there were many books purchased for our Library at the store. Thank you!

Remembrance Day Assembly

Stevenson School will have our Remembrance Day Assembly at 11:00 AM on Thursday, Nov. 7.
All families and friends are welcome to attend.

Spirit Week Success

Thank you to all of our families who supported our great Spirit Week activities to help raise funds to support school programming. We had a lot of fun with our themes this week and had several orders for our T-Shirts and Beanies as well. We ended the week with "Pie Day" and students who purchased a pie got to choose which staff member received it! We challenged the students to reach a fundraising goal and they surpassed it, so we promised to get duct-taped to the wall for everyone to enjoy! Great experience for all!  

Spirit Week

This year at Stevenson-Britannia School, we are going to be holding a Spirit Week to help raise funds for classroom and students' activities throughout the school year:

Wednesday is Walk to School Day

On Wed., Oct. 9, staff and students will walk to school together on our annual "Walk to School Day" event. We will meet at Rod's Football Field between 8:30 - 8:45 AM. Then, we will walk to school along Silver Ave. Parents are welcome to join us if you can!

On Oct. 1 (9 AM), join us in the Gym for a "Wacky Science Show" presented by Ryan Price.

Parent Council AGM

All parents are welcome to attend our Parent Council AGM next Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 PM in our Library. We need parents to come to this meeting to form a Council, as well as to sign up to help out with activities throughout the year. Thanks for supporting our school!

Every autumn, for three weeks, the Indigo Adopt a School program unites Indigo employees, customers, schools and their communities in raising money to rejuvenate elementary school libraries with new books for children across Canada. This year, Chapters Polo Festival has adopted Stevenson School and will be raising funds in store from September 15 - October 5. Please help us reach our goal of getting a new book for every student at Stevenson by going to http://bit.ly/1dql4bh and Adopting Stevenson School. Help us spread the word by sharing this information on your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Welcome back Stevenson staff and families!

We start our school year with a big thank you to Mr. Johnston (Caretaker), and to Mr. Bangit and Mr. Lywak (Evening Cleaners), for making our school look so clean, tidy, and polished.
Also, thank you to our teachers for getting the classrooms ready.
Everything looks fabulous. Now, we just need our students to make the school complete!

Ms. Armstrong, our Librarian, was married over the summer and has changed her name to Mrs. Wood!

We welcome our families back to the first days of Opening Conferences on Wednesday, September 4 from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM & Thursday, September 5 from 9:00 AM to 3:45PM.  Please phone the school at 204-832-1359 to make an appointment with your classroom teacher.  While you're in the school stop in at the office, and catch up!
