KINDNESS
This month, our school has been focusing on kindness. We are officially part of a global challenge next week.
We encourage all our families to participate in this with us. At the end of each day, count the number of kind acts happening in your households and celebrate!

RECESS
Thanks to our Gr. 4/5 students who volunteer their time to help other students have safe and active recesses. We call these students our Recess Ambassadors. They are currently running the following activities:
When the weather is extremely cold, and we have indoor recess, we are trying something new this year. If students have a snack, they must eat it in their classroom. Then, they can stay in their rooms or WALK to activities around the school. They can go to the gym and skip, or shoot baskets. They can go to the Library for speed stacking or dance in the French room. If they just want to walk, they can join the Walking Club and do laps in the hallways on the main floor. We are lucky to have so many great choices available at recess time.
For outdoor recesses, there is organized sliding down one of our snowhills, and sled pull races where you can get pulled around a course in a toboggan.
Thanks again, Recess Ambassadors and Mrs. Havixbeck and Mr. McKinnon for planning and running all of these activities in our school.

SCHOOL BUS CANCELLATIONS
Please listen to your local radio stations and/or check the division website (http://www.sjsd.net) for bus cancellations.
Metro superintendents check the weather each morning and make a determination as to whether or not buses are cancelled for the day in the Metro area. -45 degrees Celsius or colder (with windchill) is one of the determining factors. Once a decision is made to cancel school buses, a synrevoice message will then be sent out to all parents and principals. The news media is also alerted to cancellations and Division websites are updated to reflect any announcement. Parents of bussed students can then determine whether or not they want to send/drive their children to school.
