Reminder
There is no school on Friday. It is an Inservice day for staff.
We are spending the day learning about innovative ways to teach our curriculum in order to focus on the life skills our children need now and in their futures; "The 6Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Character, Citizenship, and Creativity.
We are very proud that our very own Mrs. Kaczmarz has been asked to share her journey into teaching dance with other teachers across our school division. #tappingourpotential

The whole school will be participating in the Lights Out challenge where we save electricity by only using natural light for the day! We challenge you to try it too!
Earth Day is on April 22. We hope you come up with ways your family can help the Earth this weekend!

ELECTION DAY
Remember to get out and vote in the provincial election on Tuesday.
Every vote matters. It is important for us to model good citizenship for our children so that they see how they can voice their opinions in the future.

Healthy Reminders
This year, we have had several flus and colds go through our building.
Here's a few reminders to help keep everyone healthy:
Wash your hands often.
Keep highly used surfaces clean and sanitized (tables, doorknobs, water taps...).
Cover your cough.
Eat healthy foods (fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients we need).
Get the rest you need (children need 10 - 12 hours of sleep every night).
Exercise (even if you don't feel like it)!
Got the flu...stay home.

Spring is Around the Corner - Hopefully!
With spring weather hopefully coming soon, please remember to send your child(ren) of all ages with extra clothes to school. They can keep them in their lockers. Your child(ren) spend a total of one hour outside each day for recess play time. There are puddles and mud on the playground. We do ask children to remove their footwear at the door if they have mud on their feet, in order to help keep our hallways and classrooms clean. It is also best if your child has a pair of shoes for outdoor play and a clean pair of shoes they can wear indoors. Our Caretaker, Mr. Johnston, and our evening Cleaners, Mr. Lywak and Mr. Amigo work very hard to keep our school in good shape for your children every day. We take great pride in wanting to provide a comfortable, safe, clean environment for our families.
If you ever have any concerns about the school, please call Ms Couch or Ms Amaral at 204-832-1359.

FREE BOOKS
Dear
Parents,
We partner
with an organization called First Book Canada. In the past few years, we have
purchased books for students to take home for summer reading, at a very low
cost. Recently, First Book Canada hosted an event where we were able to get
free books for students. Today, each student is taking home two free books to
keep. We encourage students to lend/trade/give these books to friends, family
members, and classmates when they are done reading their books. It is our hope
that our students enjoy the books they have chosen and continue to learn that
books are for sharing.

Artist in our School
This month, we are very fortunate to be working with Joe Lanceley, or "Tipi Joe", as he calls himself. He is working with all our students. The Kindergarten, Gr. 1,2, & 3s are doing the Seven Teachings in Indigenous culture. The Gr. 4 & 5s are learning all about tipis. Watch this spring for a new addition to our playground! We will be getting a full size tipi. We will use it as an outdoor sheltered classroom.
