Great Walk To School Day
Thanks to all the families who were able to bring their children to Rod's Football Field for our annual Walk to School Day. Remember, October is Walk To School Month. We encourage everyone to take active and safe routes to school in every season.
We have a new Constable as our School Resource Officer. Thanks for joining us on our walk, Constable Alana!

Report to the Community
Each year, all schools in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division create a Report to the Community which summarizes accomplishments from the previous
school year and plans for the current year. Stevenson School's 2015-2016

Walk To School Day
October is Walk to School Month. In celebration of this,
Stevenson is having its annual Walk to School Day on Thursday, October 8. We will meet at the Rod’s Football field at
8:35am (Silver Ave. and Ferry Rd.). We will walk along the north side of Silver
Ave. to the school. If your child is bussed to school, the bus will drop the
students off at the field to join in the walk. Staff will be there to supervise
students. Families, please feel free to join us in our walk to school. Once we
arrive at the school, we will have a brief assembly to start our day together
outside. For more information on this event, click here.

Plastic Bag Round Up
Over the past 7 years, elementary schools in Manitoba have
collected almost six million plastic bags which have been recycled into special
items for their school, such as benches, bird houses, planters and frisbees. Once
again, Stevenson School is participating in this challenge. Please send in all
types of plastic bags that are ready to be recycled. Groceries bags, shopping
bags, ziplock bags, bread bags, produce bags and more are all accepted. Please
help our school to protect our environment by sending in bags. The challenge
runs from Oct. 1st to 30th. Thank you for your help. For more information, you
can check out the Take Pride site: http://www.takepride.mb.ca/?pid=73

Community Management of Head Lice
Head lice commonly occur in young children and as such, at the beginning of the school year, it is good practice to remind parents about detection and management. The best way to detect and manage head lice is for parents to check their children's heads on a regular basis throughout the year. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has prepared information for parents available here and here. Parents may also contact a public health nurse at 204-940-2040.
