PARENT COUNCIL AGM

If we don't have enough parents to make a Parent Council, then we lose out on special events at our school, as well as working toward improving our playground.
There are Executive positions available as well as general member positions. Everyone has a voice.

Last Week to Order Stevenson Team Wear

We will take orders until the end of this week!
Don't miss out.
Order forms were sent home a few weeks ago. Let us know if you need another one.
T-shirts and hoodies are available in children's and adult's sizes.
Samples are available to try on at the school for sizing.
This is a fundraiser for your school.

PRACTICING FOR EMERGENCIES

During the course of a school year, we are mandated to practice 10 fire drills, 2 lockdown drills and 1 tornado drill to prepare our students in the event there is an emergency. Staff will have reviewed procedures with children before emergency measures practices take place. We will only notify home in the event of a real crisis. We held our first 2 fire drills of the year last Friday. Please do not hesitate to call the school if you need any clarification.

Thank You

Thanks to everyone for bringing in a "Toonie for Terry" last Friday for our Terry Fox Run.
We raised over $300 for Cancer Care Manitoba!

VISIT US

We always welcome family members who can come to school during the day, to arrange to visit and volunteer in your child(ren)'s classrooms. Please call the school or email your teacher to make arrangements.

For those of you who cannot visit us during the day, you can stay in touch by visiting our classroom blogs, Twitter and Instagram feeds. These social media platforms are your windows into our classrooms. They are also useful when trying to talk about your child(ren)'s day at school. When you ask them, "How was your day?" or "What did you do at school today?", you usually get the answers: "Fine." or "Nothing." Instead, try visiting the school blogsite with your child(ren). From here, you can see all of our classroom blogs, Twitter and Instagram feeds. When looking at the posts together, you can ask your child much more open-ended questions, like: "Tell me about this.", "Why did you make dots?", "What is everyone doing in this picture?", "How did you make this?". You can get into a much more positive conversation with your child(ren) this way.

Always remember to tell your child(ren) how proud you are of them for going to school and trying their best. Openly talk about how everyone has challenges and everyone has strengths. We work to our students' strengths first, so that when they meet challenges, they will feel more confident and resilient to tackle them. This works for adults too!
