Wellness Weeks in January

Along with our Great Kindness Challenge, we are also having a Wellness Challenge this month!

Families, please join us in these challenges:

Week one (Jan. 11th)   - Hydration Week

We will be giving each student a water bottle with the goal of having them consume a basic water intake each day. The Kindergartens and grade 1s have a goal of finishing 1 bottle of water a day. The grade 2 and 3's goal is to finish 2 bottles a day. The grade 4 and 5's goal is to finish 3 bottles a day.

If a student meets the goal, (each day) they will be given a ticket to put in a draw to receive a special water bottle!

We will be teaching students to be more aware of their pee and the colour of their pee. Ultimately we want our pee to be a very light yellow colour, like pale straw. If it is any darker, you are dehydrated!

Week Two (Jan, 18th): Exercise Week

To focus on exercise we will have “Stop and Move” (SAM) Time two times everyday.

At the beginning, the workouts will be simple and short, but as the week progresses, the workouts will be slightly longer.

Week Three (Jan. 25th):  Mindfulness

To focus on mindfulness we will be asking classrooms to complete 15-30 minutes of yoga a day.

Try out "Go Noodle" or "Cosmic Kids" on youtube for great kids' yoga videos.

We will also be announcing facts on our morning announcements about the focus of the week.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Be well!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone from Stevenson School!
We are signed up for the Great Kindness Challenge again this year.
For more information, go to: http://www.greatkindnesschallenge.org/
It is from January 25-29.
We challenge everyone to do one kind act each day in January and tell others about it. This way, we can all learn about new ways to show kindness to one another.
