Outdoor Challenge


Our whole school has really been enjoying participating in the outdoor challenge. We were inspired by Discovery Children's Centre, as they have been researching the benefits of learning outdoors for many years now.

Since the beginning of June, each classroom has been exploring learning in nature at different times throughout this month. Teachers plan for lessons outdoors and then observe students in their interactions with nature. Our lessons change with childrens' inquiries and discoveries. Teachers become facilitators of learning and plan for our next lessons based on our students' questions. We also know that being outdoors is important just for the sake of being in nature. We wish to help our students get to know our community better, and learn to be connected to nature so that they will learn how to take better care of our environment than the previous generations.
