Canada 150 Celebration Day

The following letter went home last week:

Dear Stevenson Families,

Please join us for our Canada 150 Celebration on June 21!

Each year, it is our goal for students and staff to strengthen our awareness and respect of cultures within our school community. This year, we have integrated cultural awareness activities into the regular curriculum, as well as had special activities throughout the year. We hope to have some cultural performers for our up-coming “Canada 150” Family Celebration Day.

We are planning our 2^nd bi-annual Stevenson Family Celebration Day on Wednesday, June 21, to be a cultural awareness activity day. We need your help. We would like to try to have all our families’ cultures represented in some way on this day. We are asking students to identify their families’ backgrounds. Please talk about this at home so your child can tell us more about your family’s traditions. We don’t want to miss any cultures. Please share your family’s background on the paper below.

We would also like your help with planning for our Family Celebration Day on June 21. Please indicate below if you can help with preparing a game/activity/dance/food, etc. to share with groups of students. We will share each other’s cultures through activities throughout the day, as well as try each other’s food at lunchtime together.
