Spirit Week

Hello Stevenson families,

Rooms 11 and 12 are proud to present Spirit Week March 21-24, 2016! We are raising money for D’Arcy’s A.R.C, a no kill animal shelter located at 730B Century St. D’Arcy’s A.R.C rescues animals from the streets, homelessness and from situations of abuse.  Every animal rescued at D’Arcy’s A.R.C gets neutered or spayed, and is seen by a veterinarian to make sure they are healthy and safe.

Sabre Saves presents Spirit Week!
In support of D’Arcy’s A.R.C

On Monday, it is Manitoba Monday. Dress in red and white. We will be selling freshly baked peanut free cookies. The cookies will contain eggs and dairy. We will be baking the cookies and decorating them ourselves!
$0.50/cookie

Tuesday is Toucan Tuesday! Dress in as many colors as you can. We will be selling bagged candy.
$1.00/ bag
10 candies / bag

Wednesday is Waggin Wednesday! Dress as an animal. You can wear face paint, ears, costumes, or animal print clothes. Please make sure it is appropriate. We will be selling bags of chips.
$1.00 / bag of chips

On Thursday it will be DJ Thursday! Dress in cool clothes and be ready to dance! We will have a dance party in the gym and there will be some snacks for sale as well.

Please feel free to send in any unused dog or cat toys for us to bring to the shelter to help keep the animals happy.

All week long we will be having a kitty litter drive. D’Arcy’s A.R.C uses a lot of kitty litter, and this is something they need all of the time. Please send in a bag of clumping, unscented kitty litter and we will bring it all to D’Arcy’s A.R.C.

Prices for our treats are the minimum price, but if you want to pay more and help donate more money, that would be awesome! The more money we raise, the more we can help the animals at D’Arcy’s A.R.C.

We have been working very hard to plan and prepare for this week, and are so excited. Thank you for all of your support!

Sincerely,

Room 11 and 12

These students from Rms 11 & 12 did such a great job presenting all of this information to our school at an assembly last week.

Beliefs

Our Beliefs

This year, at Stevenson, the staff and students have been talking about our beliefs. We have discussed what we believe we should be learning, what kind of people we want to be known as, and what skills we want our students to have when they leave Stevenson.
In each classroom, teachers and students reflected about the knowledge, skills, values and disposition we want our students to have. We talked about what is important to us and who we want to be. Each classroom made charts, diagrams and lists of characteristics.

Come see the bulletin board outside the Gym. This display is a result of all of our ideas put together. Thank you to Irish, Nicole and Mrs. Havixbeck for creating such a great display of our beliefs.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We set traps and tried to catch the leprechauns again this year. They did leave quite a mess as well as some treasures behind! Thanks leprechauns! We will try again next year.

We hope to see all our families at the school this Thursday or Friday for our Conferences.

Thursday: 4:30pm - 7:00pm Open House Conferences
Families are welcome to come whenever it is convenient for you during this time. This is a time for your children to show you all the great things they have been doing at school. This is also a time to meet other families and make connections with each other.

Friday: 9:00am - 11:30am Parent-Teacher Conferences
This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child(ren)'s teacher one-on-one if you wish. Please call the school to make an appointment.

Report Cards

Last night, your child(ren) brought home their second term report card.
Take time together to read through the report card and celebrate all of their successes.
This is also a good time to make some goals together for home and school. You, as the parent, can model this for your child by making goals for yourself for home and work. Share your ideas with your family; even make family goals together. Remember to make your goals achievable and give yourselves rewards when you achieve your goals.

Information regarding our Open House and Parent-Teacher Conferences was sent home with the report cards. We hope to see everyone on Thursday, March 17 (4:30pm-7:00pm) for our Open House or if you would prefer to have an appointment to meet with your child's teacher on Friday, March 18 (9:00am-11:30am) for our Parent-Teacher Conferences.

If you have any questions regarding the report cards or conferences, please call the school.
