Practice for Emergencies

Throughout the year, we practice for different emergencies.
Today, we had a practice lockdown.
We practiced a scenario where we are outdoors and needed to leave the school.
Our emergency shelters are Bord-Aire Community Centre and Discovery Children's Centre.
Today, we met at Bord-Aire. Everyone listened very well to the adults in charge. We were impressed with how our students reacted. In a real emergency, everyone needs to think and act quickly.

Our goal is to keep everyone (students and staff) as safe as possible while they are at school.
If parents are visiting the school, we ask you to check in at the office for your safety and for our students' safety. If you enter the building and sense there is something wrong, (office closed, no noises, etc.), we ask that you think and act quickly and keep yourselves safe too. Leave the building. Call the school. If you get no response, call for help.

In the case of a real emergency, we will contact families to inform you about what happened.
If you have any questions about our emergency procedures, please feel free to contact the school at: 204-832-1359 or by email: stevenson@sjsd.net
